I am receiving an error message while the contact or account page opens

"Activity Summary Extension Cannot connect to CRM Server Make sure you connect with the following URL: " [COMPANY CRM URL]

We are on premise CRM 2011 UR12

Can you give me any ideas of what might resolve this issue?

Are you connecting with exact URL from error message?

If yes, please run fiddler (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2) and check details of the error returned by server. You can also post it here so I have a look at it.

I had the similar situation - and found that I missed rights in default configuration - if we use standard Role - Sales person it should be enough.

If anyone will have similar problem try to enable All the Read rights in Customization tab.

Activity Summary needs permission to read customization metadata.
In your posted fiddler response user miss Relationship (Customization tab on role editor) read right.
